+Marzelvane sipped tea and worried about Thir'rip. The view outside his galley window was beautiful, and it would have been nice to share it with his friend. As his planeship flew through the aether, the milky fog of Equinox—his home plane—slowly diluted, and stars began to twinkle through it.

+They said they'd come back. Time Raiders could be solitary folk, he'd heard, but Thir'rip would have kept their appointment, sent a message, something. The chimney creaked and Marzelvane grimaced. He was taking a real risk; Thur'rip was supposed to bring back more prismacore and a new nav system. The nav system he could manage without, maybe, but without more prismacore, the Planets Gateway could very well fall apart during the transition to the higher planes.

5
+Oh well. Thir'rip could be in trouble. He'd just have to try and make it to Alloy before the planescape ripped his ship apart.

7
+Marzelvane took his teacup and stepped into the cockpit. Good thing he found that tech support in Orden. He'd have to bring them some presents if he survived. Now let's see…planar transition checklist…
8

9
+Suddenly a blaring alarm made him drop his tea. "UNIDENTIFIED PLANESHIP, THIS IS UNISOL CUSTOMS FRIGATE _NEEDLE'S EYE_. IDENTIFY YOURSELF AND TRANSMIT CLEARANCE."
10
+
11
+Uh oh. He didn't even have a working radio, much less a registered flightplan. He poked his head into the bedroom and looked out the window. The UNISOL planeship kept pace, seeming to hover just nearby. Yikes that's big. Marzelvane's ship was beginning to come apart. Roof tiles were slipping off into the magical/psionic void, sparkling colorfully as the rules of the planescape vied for dominance.

13
+"UNIDENTIFIED PLANESHIP, UNISOL. HALT YOUR ENGINES."
14
+
15
+No. Absolutely not. It had taken him years to scrounge up the materials, even with Thur'rip's help. It was time to show these suits some gnomish cunning.

+"PLANESHIP BEARING HULL MARKING _A PLANETS GATEWAY_, HALT IMMEDIATELY OR BE FIRED UPON."

19
+Marzelvane dove back into the cockpit and with the same motion yanked down on the joystick.

21
+Crunch. The crumbly chimney of his kitchen slammed right into the cockpit of the _Needle's Eye_. The liberated cobblestone clung parasitically to the new source of matter and began to petrify the glass, like a crystal growing madly under the influence of this strange magical space.
22
+
23
+That'll do! Still unharnessed, Marzelvane slammed his elbow down into the Big Blue Button on his dashboard. Horrible noises came from everywhere as his ship transformed. The bedroom suddenly collapsed into a steel cupboard, the kitchen folded into the floorboards, and soon, where Marzelvane's homey houseship had been there floated a sleek and shining starcruiser.

25
+Starfire gurgled in the ship's belly as _A Planets Gateway_ completed its reconfiguration, and the letters on her hull clinked back into place.
